Frontline Plus August 30, 2010 Betty Boop (USA) This is a great product--it does work very well. My vets assistant told me if I buy Frontline from Amazon I am NOT getting a legit product as it is only sold to vets. While it is true it is only sold to vets..it is NOT true that the vets office is the ONLY place you can get a legit product.
I emailed Merial and they confirmed I did indeed buy a legit product from Amazon. Go to the Merial web site--email them, as I did and they will give you a phone number to call so you can verify whether or not you have a legit product.
I am not saying don't be careful...please do..but I buy Frontline Plus from Amazon..it works and it is legit.
Entirely Pets review July 27, 2010 Mrs. Sylvia K. Derr (Pennsylvania) Long story short: I have been using Frontline Plus (purchasing it from Entirely Pets) for over a year every month without fail (I keep records) My dog recently contracted fleas. When I phoned Entirely Pets the rep (or sole owner?) told me that "the fleas that are in my area (outside/home) might have become immune to the product which is why it is not effective any longer" (this is word for word) "Another issue can be that the PET has built up an immunity to the product." Upon further questioning the rep hung up on me.
I then sent a "live help" message from their web site inquiring as to whether he had just hung up on me. He "claimed" to be another person, yet he gave me word for word the same above response. I told him I would phone Frontline and ask them directly about the "immunity" question.
The Frontline rep told me that "in numberous studies there is no evidence to show that the environment can become immune to the product and that the PET cannot become immune as the flea does not need to bite the animal for effectiveness--it dies while going through the fur".
The Frontline rep also told me that "we do NOT sell our product to ANY companies, but only to VETS." The rep said that "we do not know how they get their product, but that it comes from other sources." (this, in my opinion renders the product questionable or, at least, raises questions)
Then I sent another live message to "DAVE," the rep at Entirely Pets, to relay this information I received directly from Frontline regarding the question of immunity (which Dave proposed). When I submitted the information at the live message, he hung up on me on both the first and the second tries (to relay this information).
I believe this company to be questionable at best and will not order from them again.
As a side note, the Frontline rep told me that dogs can pick up fleas when using Frontline Plus, but they die within 4 to 18 hours BEFORE they can enter the stage whereby they get into one's environment (rugs, etc.) Frontline, therefore, is formulated to kill fleas.
I, personally, have not had my dog contract ticks since using Frontline. I will continue to use the product, but from a reliable source.
This works! May 11, 2010 M A Smith (Houston, Texas USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My dog has used these since she was a pup - two years ago - and we have never had a flea problem. The last time I had pets, I had to take them for a flea bath every three months. While they were gone, I'd vacuum and spray all of the carpet and upholstered furniture with flea stuff and treat the yard, too! (I live in south Texas where fleas thrive and had learned true hard way that it was much easier to prevent an infestation than to get rid of one. . . .) Now I just follow the directions on the package at the first of every month and we have no problems. My vet recommended Frontline/Frontline Plus, and though I continue to monitor the warnings, my dog has never had a seizure or any problem at all. It seems from my research that the biggest risk is to use a dose that is greater than the one recommended for your pet. I buy a year's supply at a time and our household is happily flealess!
Great Product April 22, 2010 Melinda (OH) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've used this product on my dog for 5 years. He's never had any sort of reaction from it and I've never seen a flea or tick on him. The only issue is the price of it. But Amazon.com sells it cheaper than anyone else.
Caused Seizures in My dogs March 20, 2010 Kalamazoo (New York City) 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
My dogs have been having seizures on an almost regular monthly basis since they were 4 months old (they are littermates). I only started recently searching about the relationship between Frontline and seizures, and there are SO MANY people whose pets have had seizures from Frontline--just do a tiny bit of research. Your vet will deny it but there are too many people who have reported it. Sure enough, I realized my dogs were having seizures 1-2 days after each application of Frontline, like clockwork. (and all other causes have been eliminated--they have a healthy diet, etc etc)
This product may work well on some dogs, but for mine, the evidence is clear and the Frontline has been causing seizures in my dogs. Many people have reported that their dog stopped having immediately after stopping using Frontline.
I'm switching to a gentler, natural brand.
